Very nice. The voice is clear. But the quality of the screen capture need improvement. It is very difficulty to watch the cast. Thanks for good work

Thanks for the feedback Yiguang Hu. The quality of the quicktime download is much better than the one hosted on vimeo. I’ll be looking at a few different encoding options for future screencasts.

Very cool – I’m excited for these!
Unfortunately, it seems the .mov download is corrupted, beginning about 7:30 into the screencast. The sound goes static, and the screen stops refreshing.

Thanks Steve. The downloaded version of the screencast should be fixed. Please try again and let me know if you run into any further issues.

Todd:
Nice start. and well worth viewing. A couple of – I hope – useful comments.
The standard view created by Griffon contains a pack command which you remove without indicating why. It would be helpful for the newbie – me – to understand why.
As someone new to Griffon and Swing, you’re explanation of the doOutside closure is welcome information. But then you a a doLater closure without indicating why it is necessary and how to detreemine what should belong in the closure.
Finally, in my opinion the binding mechanism description is a bit light. Particularly the use of the bean command which is not well documented. For me – one of the bifggest issues with learning Griffon has been understanding binding and the different ways of binding and their implication – do I use bind or bean? What are the parameters to bind and bean? What exactly are the steps necessary to bind a component to the model.
I look forward to your next webcast!

Thanks for the great feedback Stephen. We covered a lot of ground in the first episode and I opted to leave a few details out as not to overwhelm folks. I’ll probably dedicate a good portion of an upcoming screencast to just that topic alone. If you have other suggestions of things you would like to see, please drop me a note.

Howdy,
I agree with Steve on a couple of the issues about not explaining stuff, but the screencast is an excellent start.
With regard to the resolution, etc, one screencast series that I thought was really good for legibility was Ruby Banter. Unfortunately they only did 11 episodes and I haven’t seen a new one for months (or even more than a year) but they cranked the screen resolution down which helped a lot. I think they’re still in iTunes.
Anyway, thanks very much and keep up the good work. I’ll keep my eye out for the book.
Derek.

Hi, great cast! The only thing i think you should improve is with the voice recording, if you talk a little more loud it will be more clear as if you were in a room doing a speech, sometimes on the cast it sounds like a hrmmmm noise added to the vocal. Thanks for the cast.
